A team of cricketing stars will come together on Sunday 14th September under the leadership of Brian Lara, one of the greatest batsmen the game has ever seen. He will captain a Brian Lara Invitational XI which includes Ashes-winning, former England captain Andrew Strauss, former England wicket keeper Paul Nixon and the former England women's captain and now head of women's cricket at the ECB, Clare Connor.
They will play a one day30 over per side charity match against Brian Lara’s old Warwickshire team mates, with whom he won three out of four domestic trophies and shared a number of his many records including the highest ever first class score of 501 in 1994.
The event will raise funds for the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation (RCSF), a charity established to build the first dedicated, international standard cricket stadium in the Rwandan capital Kigali.
With support from patrons including the Prime Minister, David Cameron, Jonathan Agnew, Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP ,Lord Chadlington and England cricket star Heather Knight the charity has already raised over £390,000 of its £600,000 target. The hope is that this all-star match will help bring the team much closer to their objective.
To raise further funds, the RCSF will be auctioning off a playing place in each team. Please contact or visit www.rcsf.org.uk/events for more details.
The hospitality packages include your match ticket, VIP parking, tea & coffee on arrival, Louis Roederer champagne reception, three course lunch with fine Sumaridge wines, traditional afternoon tea.
